Luis Soriano is a CNN Hero!
Ayoka's motto is "giving a voice to the voiceless".
For the past year and a half, we have strived to do just that, bringing you stories from around the world and giving recognition to people who have found creative ways to improve their communities and beyond.
With your support, we were also able to produce our first short film which aired twice on PBS' Wolrdfocus, has received thousands of hits on youtube and been reposted on dozens of blogs around the world. Ayoka's Biblioburro film has also been screened at festivals in the US and as far as India and Mali.
Thanks to the donations received via Ayoka, Luis Soriano has been able to complete La Gloria's first library.
Inspired by our film on the Biblioburro and Luis' work, Monica Brown, author of award-winning bilingual books for children, is now working on a new book, Waiting for the Biblioburro, with illustrations by John Parra. Part of the proceeds from the book, scheduled for release by Tricycle Press in the summer 2011, will go towards the Biblioburro.
We are also very happy to announce that thanks to Ayoka's bid, Luis has just been nominated as a CNN Hero and his work is going to be seen on television screens around the world!
We are so happy he is getting the recognition he deserves, and very proud to have played a part in it.

We could not have done it without your support. Thank you.
